The Italian-Canadian AMICI MUSEUM CELEBRATES

MAESTRO GIUSEPPE FRANCESCO MACINA

Location: Italian Canadian AMICI Museum in the Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St, north of Major Mackenzie Drive)
***ENTRANCE only through back parking lot

Throughout the last fifty years, tenor Giuseppe Francesco Macina has contributed extensively to opera in Canada, first as an accomplished performer and later as an inspired teacher. Macina is now Founder and Artistic Director of the Toronto Opera Repertoire and Artistic Director and Conductor of Coro Giuseppe Verdi. The evening features a performance and tribute to the artist.

The program comprises part of the exhibit “Cantate con noi: Italian Canadian Music and Artists” currently features Enrico Farina, Johnny Lombardi, Guy Lombardo, and Michael Occhipinti. Also on display are examples from Vincenzo Alonzi’s collection of antique and refurbished music players and radios.
Free admission to both the exhibition and special presentation. Donations would be most appreciated. Space is limited;RSVP ARE RECOMMENDED.

The exhibition is open to the general public until March 27, 2009: Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Viewings are available on weekends by appointment only.
